Welcome to moving a day at the 48th annual Youth Sailing World Championships. Here is how you can follow day 3 three of the colossal event. If the schedule holds to form, by the end of today 69 of the 101 scheduled races will be completed. That means there’ll be scant opportunities in the final two days to make any significant moves up the leaderboard. So, if a crew is looking to move up the board, today’s the day to make a charge. Sustainability and ocean conservation put at forefront of 2018 Youth Worlds

Sustainability and ocean conservation is at the forefront of the 2018 Youth Sailing World Championships in Corpus Christi, Texas, USA as the event bids to become a benchmark for all future World Sailing events. But away from the competition, the sailors are embracing the theme of the event to protect the future of the oceans. In collaboration with Sustainability Partner, 11th Hour Racing, the leading sailing and maritime sustainability supporter, numerous activities and initiatives are in place for sailors to engage with and take back home.

Close quarters at Youth Sailing World Championships

Of the nine classes racing at the 48th Youth Sailing World Championships, few are as closely contested as the Girls’ RS:X, the Boys’ Laser Radial and the Girls’ 29er. While the podium is starting to take shape in a few classes, these three still are wide open and up for grabs. Speciale led ten Have by one point and Watson by two points entering today. But after finishing 3-1 in the first two races, Speciale was over the start line at the signal and scored UFD. Although she can discard the score, Speciale now trails ten Have by one point. Watson still holds third, three points behind the New Zealand leader.

Day #4 – How to Follow – Time running out for medal hopefuls

If yesterday was moving day at the 48th annual Youth Sailing World Championships today might be considered the last chance. WATCH: Day 3 Video Highlights[embedded content]There are four classes with great competition going on-the Girls’ RS:X, the Boy’s Laser Radial and the Boys’ and Girls’ 29er classes. While the podium is starting to take shape in other classes, these four are wide open and up for grabs. In the Girls’ RS:X Class Veerle ten Have of New Zealand leads Italy’s Giorgia Speciale, last year’s bronze medalist, by 1 point and Islay Watson of Great Britain by 3 points.
